Experience some of East Africa's wildest national parks, get to know some of the region's local communities and unwind on the peaceful coastline of the Indian Ocean. Traverse some of the Tsavo National Park's 21,000 sq km in search of wild game, meet local kids at the Amani Project, learn about the life of the Chagga tribespeople and soak up the sun on a beach near Mombasa. Day 1 Nairobi
Green parks, glassy skyscrapers and a vivacious nightlife define the Kenyan capital.
Days 2-3 Amboseli
With stunning, snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro forming its backdrop, the Amboseli National Park offers spectacular photographic opportunities. Explore the distinctive marshes, open plains and acacia woodland that make up the landscape, looking out for elephants, antelopes and lions.
Day 4 Arusha
Travelling south, spot the scarlet robes of Africa's most famous tribespeople - the Masai - as they tend to their cattle. Make camp in Arusha, a Tanzanian town located in the beautiful Great Rift Valley.
Day 5 Amani Children's Home
Get to know some local kids on a visit to the Amani Children's Home, an organisation providing education and support for orphans and homeless children. Join them in a lesson or for playtime for an unforgettable experience.
Day 6 Marangu/ Village visits
A guided tour of Mshiri Village gives an insight into the everyday life of the Chagga people. Be invited inside a traditional thatched hut, walk around a shamba (farm) and sample delicious local food for lunch.
Day 7 Tsavo National Park
The enormous Tsavo National Park shelters more than 60 major mammals and over 1,000 plant species flourish in the rich, volcanic soil. Take a game drive through the park and hone those wildlife spotting skills. Herds of up to a thousand buffaloes are common here, as are sightings of giraffes, zebras and a host of smaller native animals.
Day 8 Mombasa
The journey comes to an end in the sun-drenched seaside town of Mombasa. Extend your stay to enjoy the white sands, gentle surf and tasty fresh seafood.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
