It’s always nice when a travel film captures the ‘essence’ of a place. You watch it and think, ‘Yep, that about sums it all up.’ With this movie, filmmaking dynamo Vincent Urban (great name btw) has done just that with Japan.
The footage is a four-minute audio-visual diary documenting a train trip through Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. Vincent and his video crew got up at 4am every day just to hit up the tourist sites before the crowds got there. It’s fast, bizarre and completely hypnotic. Just like Japan. If this film doesn’t make you want to book flights to the Land of the Rising Sun immediately, nothing ever will. Strap yourself in. This is one hell of a ride.
