Intrepid’s latest nature adventures for 2025 are all about authentic ways to connect with our planet and the people working to protect it.
From glacier hiking in Greenland to trekking through Borneo’s jungles, these new trips and experiences are designed to take you closer to nature in immersive and meaningful ways.
1. Hike to epic glaciers and a remote eco-lodge in Greenland
The idea of a polar cruise might make you shiver (in a good way), but wait until you explore Greenland’s wild landscapes by foot. On the new Greenland Expedition, instead of gazing at glaciers, you can hike them. On Disko Island, you’ll tackle a multi-day hike to the impressive Lyngmark Glacier, covering challenging, rocky terrain (poles recommended!) and staying in a bright blue eco-lodge. Elsewhere, expect black sand beaches, scenic ferry rides past icebergs and, if you’re lucky, whale sightings.
2. Chase waterfalls and wow moments in West Africa
Kick off the new Benin, Togo & Ghana Adventure with a visit to Benin’s sustainable farming research centre before hopping into a pirogue (a canoe made from a single tree trunk) to cruise down the Adjara Black River, keeping an eye out for crocs. In Togo, you’ll climb Mount Agou – the country’s highest peak – before crossing into Ghana for more hikes, suspension bridge canopy walks and dramatic waterfalls.
3. Journey to Australia’s northern tip
Head out on an 11-day outback experience to Australia’s northern tip. The new Cape York & Torres Strait Explorer trip offers a memorable mix of wildlife, culture and secluded landscapes far from the tourist trail. Trek through Cape Tribulation’s ancient Daintree Rainforest, join a bush food and medicine walk with an Aboriginal guide and cruise through mangrove-rich rivers on an eco-tour. Soak up Bayo Beach’s beauty with a Torres Strait Islander and sample local delicacies such as crayfish toasties.
4. Hug trees with your family in Finland
Gather the family for a six-day adventure in Finnish Lapland that will give you a chance to connect with nature by hugging trees and arctic cocooning (a cosy version of forest bathing). See a fine example of Finnish nature conservation on a guided forest walk, where tree hugging and planting are encouraged. Then you’ll wrap yourself up in blankets and hammocks for an arctic cocoon experience surrounded by silence, melting into pure relaxation before sharing hot chocolates around the fire.
5. Camp under starry skies in Alaska
Spend eight days spotting moose, bears and maybe even orcas on new trip, Hiking the Great Land of Alaska. On the Harding Icefield Trail, you’ll learn about the region’s changing climate while you ascend from Exit Glacier. Follow this with a half-day kayak around Kachemak Bay in Homer, where eagles, sea lions and even whales are known to make appearances. End each night camping under starlit Alaskan skies, soaking in some of the world’s most stunning natural beauty.
6. Explore protected landscapes in Georgia and Armenia
From abandoned Soviet spa towns to ancient monasteries, the unexpected awaits on the new Georgia & Armenia Explorer trip. Wander Kutaisi’s 3000-year-old streets, sip wine with local makers and visit the Arpa Protected Landscape – Armenia’s first community-managed reserve. Here, you’ll hike with rangers to meet the friendly local goats and learn how locals protect rare species like the Caucasian leopard, Armenian mouflon and European lynx.
7. Plant grass for pygmy elephants in Borneo
This 10-day Borneo Family Holiday Comfort trip is a great mix of wildlife encounters and family-friendly fun that will leave you with so many memories, like meeting Borneo’s baby orangutans and snorkelling with a marine biologist. On a new experience for 2025, you’ll visit RESPECT, an Intrepid Foundation partner working to protect the habitats of Borneo pygmy elephants. You’ll hear more about their work before planting some grass for these endangered creatures.
8. Spend a day on Donso Island in Sweden
Adding three countries to the 18 to 35s offering, the new Essential Scandinavia trip is a 9-day intro to the region with plenty of room for self-exploration. One nature highlight of this trip is the visit to Donso Island, where you’ll wander through Swedish woodlands to viewpoints overlooking secluded beaches and red homes reminiscent of a postcard.
9. Learn about conservation in the Canadian Rockies
On the Grand Canadian Rockies trip you’ll ogle at Lake Louise’s iconic teal hues, take the scenic drive along Icefields Parkway and learn about First Nations history at the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre. The 11-day adventure also has a new experience for 2025, where you’ll meet a local guide from Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y) to hear about the joint wildlife conservation initiative between the US and Canada that protects animals that roam between and inhabit both countries.
10. Spot birds and swim in a pink lake in Senegal and The Gambia
The new Senegal and The Gambia Adventure is a dream for nature lovers. Visit Senegal’s Pink Lake, which gets its rosy hues from Dunaliella salina algae found in the water here. The next day, board a pirogue to explore Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, a retreat for nearly 300 bird species, before continuing to Abuko Nature Reserve for a glimpse of reptiles and other native wildlife. Over 12 days, you’ll enjoy unique encounters in one of West Africa’s most diverse regions.
11. Spot wildlife over sundowners in Nepal
The Nepal Women’s Expedition already has awe-inspiring encounters with nature covered, with a five-day hike through the Annapurnas and a two-day safari in Chitwan National Park. But in 2025 the latter experience has been elevated with a new inclusion: sunset drinks along the riverbank with a bit of wildlife spotting. Keep an eye out for deer, birds and the great Indian rhino as you sip drinks and munch on local snacks with your new-found friends.
12. Dive into culture and conservation in Vietnam
Travel from south to north on the Classic Vietnam trip, diving into local history in Ho Chi Minh City, savouring local food and unwinding on a traditional junk boat in Halong Bay. The 15-day trip now includes a visit to Cuc Phuong National Park to meet with one of the newest Intrepid Foundation partners: Save Vietnam’s Wildlife. You’ll learn about how they protect endangered species, including pangolins, leopard cats and otters.
