Most of our East Coast trips begin in Sydney. If you're not joining a tour, the nearest airport is Ballina Byron Gateway Airport (BNK), about 22km from the town centre. Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Australia offer daily flights to Ballina from most major Australian cities.

The best time to visit Byron Bay is from November to February when the weather is warm and sunny, allowing you to make the most of the region's stunning beaches. However, summer is the most popular season to travel, so be prepared for larger crowds and higher prices.

If you want to avoid the crowds, try visiting during the shoulder months of September, October, March and April when the weather is still reasonably warm but there aren't as many people around.

Byron Bay has plenty to offer all year, including wellness activities and surfing, so you can't really go wrong at any time.

Byron Bay has a humid subtropical climate with long, warm and occasionally wet summers and short, mild winters. Its proximity to the tropics means it can be quite humid, lingering at around 70%.

January is the hottest month with average temperatures of 22ºC to 29ºC, while July is the coolest at 12ºC to 20ºC.
