Why you'll love this trip
  • Hike jungle trails in search of monkeys, parrots, otters and caimans and sleep in a nature lodge lit by candles and kerosene lamps.
  • Meet the local artisans, farmers and townsfolk of the Sacred Valley – not forgetting the cute alpacas and llamas.
  • Be mesmerised by the mother of all Inca cities, the mysterious Machu Picchu, where you'll enjoy a guided tour.
  • With the help of a resident musician, make your own zampona – a traditional panpipe instrument – and learn how to play it like a local.
  • Cusco has something for everyone, making it perfect for a family visit. A boleto touristico pass grants you access to the best sights in town.

Is this trip right for you?
  • This trip visits places that are at high altitude, and as a result some people can suffer from altitude sickness, regardless of age or physical health. Please see the Medical and health information section of the Essential Trip Information for more detail.
  • According to Machu Picchu visiting regulations, all visitors must follow a pre-determined route within the site. This route must be followed in one direction only, and once the guided visit commences exiting and re-entering the site is not permitted. Once the guided visit concludes, visitors must exit the site and personal exploration of Machu Picchu is not permitted. Please refer to the Itinerary for details.
  • Temperatures in the Amazon can fluctuate from daytime humidity to night-time chill. Insects, especially mosquitoes, are common. We recommend tropical-strength insect repellent and light cotton clothing that covers your arms and legs, with warmer layers for the evening.

We traveled on a family trip to Peru. I could not recommend this trip more. It catered for everyone and we had a wonderful time learning, seeing Peru and understanding why the Peruvian people are justifiably proud of their country.

Peru is a beautiful country that everyone should see at least once in their life. The nature is phenomenal. You get to explore and learn how the people live ( for example visit a local community). Even with the ages gaps, as a teen i had so much fun and made great memories. 100% recommend :)

A great, fun and fast paced way to experience Peru! Our guide, Paul, really brought the country to life. From start to finish we were taken care of and now have a newfound appreciation of the country.

Our guide, Paul, was exceptional and made this trip a success! This was our second family tour with Intrepid and it was fantastic! It was well organized and paced. It's quite a "on the go" tour. I feel like we saw and experienced so much!
