From the intricate stone carvings of the ruins of Copan, to the ridiculously cheap diving off the Bay of Islands, Honduras offers a multitude of unforgettable travel experiences. If relaxation is more your style there’s always languishing in a hammock, nursing a Salva Vida beer and watching the sunset. However, it’s the kindness of the people that made my trip to Honduras so memorable, especially the passing motorist who rescued two backpackers on a lonely highway one sweltering afternoon. Our kind benefactor was the owner of a vast coffee and tobacco plantation. He overwhelmed us with 'Catracho' hospitality, taking us to sample the delicious and aromatic coffee from his plantation. Later he took us on a guided tour of his cigar factory, where we learnt the intricacies of 'chomping stogies'!
