Africa Tours & Vacations
Surrender to the lure of Africa and its diverse wildlife, thousands of cultures and breathtaking landscapes.
Meaning ‘to travel’ in Arabic and Swahili, the word ‘safari’ can describe many types of epic adventure in Africa. There is the ancient Egypt kind – discovering the lost city of Abu Simbel and the Valley of the Kings. The nomadic one – veering away from Morocco’s souqs and medinas and being hosted by a Berber family in the Sahara. The local village version – cherishing moments with Maasai, San, and Malagasy cultures. The wildlife way – search for the Big Five in any number of game reserves and parks: Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Kruger, and Lake Nakuru, to name a few. What does your African adventure look like?
On safari, it’s all about getting as close as you can to the elusive Big Five – the African elephant, black rhino, Cape buffalo, African lion and African leopard. Pack your camera and keep your eyes peeled to the grasslands as you travel in a custom-built Overland vehicle on the trip of a lifetime.
There’s no better way to get to know a place than to learn about its cuisine! Among the sights, sounds and souqs of Morocco, salivate over street-side snacks at Marrakech’s Djemma el-Fna market, taste a tagine in Tangier and embark on a food-focused experience at a Berber family homestay high in the Atlas Mountains.
Standing at 5896 m, the world’s tallest freestanding mountain may seem imposing, but it’s certainly not out of reach. Mt Kilimanjaro rises from acacia forests and arid scrublands at the border of Kenya and Tanzania, and trekking to the summit to see the sprawling plains below is definitely worth the long days on the trail.
The wide-open plains of Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve are not only home to herds of wild animals, but also to the welcoming communities of the Maasai people. Join these red-clad warriors to learn about their vibrant customs and culture, witness the famous jumping dances and discover their traditional way of life.
There are only two populations of mountain gorillas left in the entire world – one of which is in Rwanda. After the effort of trekking into the thick jungle, once you’re near a silverback or can spot a female nursing her baby you’ll know the muddy trek was worth it.
Days spent overlanding on safari are incredible, but what about wildlife spotting from the water? Traverse the channels of Botswana's Okavango Delta by mokoro – a traditional dugout canoe – through the maze of reeds and lagoons, searching for the region’s most unique and unusual creatures and birdlife.

Morocco Family Holiday
Becca · Traveled April 2024
I went on this trip with my two lads and they said that it was the best holiday that they have ever had. We loved the country and found the people so welcoming and friendly. It was a great mixture of city life, peaceful mountain scenery and relaxation on the Atlantic coast. So much was packed into one week and yet the pace felt relaxed and enjoyable. I hope to see some more of Morocco one day, such a beautiful country, and our guide, Mohammed Azabi, was fabulous, so gentle, kind and knowledgeable.

Morocco Family Holiday Comfort

This trip gave us an amazing insight into the country - we really feel that we saw and experienced a great deal.
Our trip leader was excellent and helped us to experience local customs and meet local people which was so special.
The hotels on our family comfort trip were of a good standard overall, but the first and last hotels were far superior to the rest.

Morocco Family Holiday Comfort
Jilly · Traveled April 2024
We had the most amazing time in Morocco on a Family Comfort trip. Our leader Jamal Kassi was wonderful, we felt very safe with him and his local knowledge was invaluable. I loved visiting the old medina in Fes, a feast for the senses! My children (8, 10, 12) liked the camel ride in the Sahara the best. I loved the experiences that would have been impossible to arrange ourselves; sharing mint tea with a nomad is his tent and being served a Moroccan feast in a local's mud-brick home were moments I'll never forget. Our trip was made all the more enjoyable by travelling with other families and sharing the experience together. I'm very thankful that our family has had such a great time in beautiful Morocco and that we've had the opportunity to go beyond sightseeing to understand more of the history, the culture, and the people of the country.

Morocco Encompassed
Betty · Traveled April 2024
We took Morocco Encompassed tour in April with Intrepid Travels. Although it can be a challenging time to visit a Muslim county suiting Ramadan and Eid , the trip was managed incredibly well, without any glitches. Intrepid is an incredible company to travel with with small groups. They provide perfect service for you to get to know the culture of the country, they give you enough guidance and knowledge yet you have enough time to explore on your own. We really appreciate the meal arrangements with the private local people which gave us insights of the culture . Perfect balanced trip with a great group leader Aziz. Thank you Intrepid for a wonderful and memorable experience.
