From the neon-lit chaos of Bangkok to Borneo’s misty mountains, Asia is an eternal backpacker’s favourite.

Intrepid 18 to 35s: South East Asia

Why choose us

The ultimate adventures

You can’t travel to India without swinging past the Taj Mahal but having a laugh with a chai wallah in a local market is just as memorable. That’s why we’ve included the big-ticket items, as well as plenty of free time.

Local leaders, local connections

Travelling with an experienced leader means you can just enjoy the moment, rather than worrying about when the last train leaves. They’ll also share stories and take you to places that only the locals know about.

Small (but not too small) groups

Our groups are made up of 10 travellers on average. That’s big enough to create a good vibe, but small enough to explore a destination independently. And if you’re travelling solo, it’s the perfect number of new friends.

A sustainable way to travel

We believe that travelling sustainably is important. Through our not-for-profit The Intrepid Foundation, we are committed to supporting projects around the world – from reducing carbon in the environment to supporting the livelihoods of local communities.

Stay real in cool places

We think where you lay your head at night can be just as cool as what you see during the day. Whether that be sleeping in a 17th-century Rajasthani castle or rocking to sleep with a bunch of locals on an overnight train in Vietnam.

Make your money go further

Want big-time experiences without the big-time price tag? Our 18 to 35s travel style means staying in simple, well-located accommodation, taking local transport and enjoying tasty local food, so you choose where your spending money goes.

Essential Southern Thailand

Aiman · Traveled June 2024
Fantastic, independent-oriented (not much hand-holding) trip/organization. I enjoyed Intrepid more than EF Ultimate Break. The rainy season had cooler winds & lovely, cool rain some days. Group members are from different countries. Get ear plugs and a sleep mask for the sleeper train and city-square Phuket hotel. Oat rocked.

Essential Japan

Jake · Traveled June 2024
Great itinerary to cover Japan in a short period of time. The trip is mostly free time with few inclusions, so suits the independent traveller and not somebody who wants a set agenda. You easily average 25k steps a day and suits those physically active. The accomodation is satisfactory but the mattresses aren’t the most comfortable.

Essential Japan

Great trip for young people. Make sure you understand Japan has a wet/ dry season and what months are peak times. Lots of city walking, so pack good walking shoes and a drink bottle and ready to have a fun time.

Real Cambodia

The most amazing trip visiting places I never would have thought to stay. Our trip leader Sreymom brought so much joy and was looking out for us every step of the way. She took us on an emotional and hilarious journey with the best people. Cambodia is a wonderful country <3.

One Week in Thailand: Kayaking and Hilltribes

Gemma · Traveled June 2024
I can’t recommend this trip enough! Such a great itinerary of Northern Thailand, with the highlight being the two day hike and white water rafting! The hike was challenging but so beautiful and serene. A unique insight into the local village life and excellent home-cooked food. The sleeper trains were so fun and quite comfortable. The tour leader Oat was so fun and knowledgeable, and made the trip a great experience! Book the two week tour if you can, there’s so much to see in the south!
