We travel with respect for the wildlife and wild places we visit
We recognise that, like a lot of good things, travel has an inherent impact on the planet. To us, travelling responsibly is about much more than just minimising that impact, it's about taking considered steps to promote environmental conservation and protect our world's wildlife.
That's why we've just introduced carbon labels to 500 trips so our travellers can be better equipped to make informed decisions. It's also why we were the first global tour operator to ban elephant rides (and create a movement that prompted others to do the same) way back in 2014.
We won't sit on the sidelines. We're determined to be the best travel company not just in the world but for the world.
What we're focused on
Back in 2005 we first kicked off a massive company wide effort to measure, reduce and offset the emissions generated by our trips and our offices. Today, our climate commitments are deeply engrained in our ethos.
We've been carbon-neutral since 2010 and have a seven-point commitment plan that supports our Climate Emergency Declaration. We were the first global tour operator with verifiable science-based targets through the Science Based Targets initiative.
To us, travel is as much about seeing new places as it is about admiring the wildlife that lives there. To ensure our animal encounters are held to the highest standard, we worked extensively with World Animal Protection to create a robust set of Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Whether we’re spotting wildlife or interacting with a domesticated animal, all of our animal experiences are built with their best interest in mind.
We think globally, act locally, and look for opportunities to keep the economic benefits of travel where they belong.
