Middle East family holidays

Get ready for an anything-but-ordinary family holiday in the Middle East

The Pyramids of Egypt. The alien rock formations of Turkey. The buoyant blue waters of the Dead Sea. For most young travellers (and maybe even you too), these places exist only in the imagination. But once you’ve slept under the stars in Wadi Rum, shared a home-cooked meal with a Nubian family in Egypt or explored the ancient underground city of Kaymakli in Turkey, this region feels less like the ‘Middle East’ than the centre of the universe. With a balanced itinerary of enriching activities and downtime, our Middle East family trips will fuel dinner table conversations long after you return home.

Why choose us

Family-only trips

These trips are for families only – including any grandparents, aunts or uncles who’d like to join, of course. As long as you’re travelling with a child aged between 5 (or 10 for some itineraries) and 17, you’re a family in our eyes. Plus, all travellers aged 17 and younger receive a 10% discount.

Like-minded travellers

Travelling with us is a bit like travelling with old friends. You’ll join a group of 3 to 5 families from all over the world, and the kids tend to hit it off straight away so you can enjoy some well-earned R&R. We often find that families stay in touch long after the trip ends.

Small groups

Our groups are small enough to avoid the crowds and reach out-of-the-way places, but big enough for a good social mix. Our average group size of 10 allows us to hop aboard local boats, buses or trains, eat at family-run restaurants, and stay in traditional guesthouses and homestays.

Kid-friendly itineraries

Boredom? Nope. The biggest challenge of travelling with kids is keeping them entertained, which is why our trips have plenty of fun activities and free time. We try to keep travelling time to a minimum and use hotels with pools. Your leader can also suggest activities based on your kid’s hobbies or curriculum.

Safety first

Our leaders are specially trained to run family adventures, so you and the kids will be well taken care of. You can also rest easy knowing we conduct safety assessments on all our activities to meet local standards as well as our own comprehensive safety policy.

Travel that gives back

As the world’s largest travel B Corp, we use travel as a force for good. We give back to the communities we visit, carbon offset our trips and take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. When you travel with us, you travel with purpose.

A fantastic family holiday with a great guide. A great opportunity to discover more about this amazing county, with so rich a history. It was a great adventure and we created many memories which will remain with us for a long time.

Such a memorable family holiday! It is quite fast paced but we got to see and experience so much. Many highlights including a balloon ride, boat trip, marbling workshop etc etc. Our 6,13 and 18 year old loved it. We thoroughly enjoyed the underground caves and ruins of Ephesus. Thanks to our guide , who made our trip! so much knowledge and brilliant organisation. Would highly recommend this Intrepid trip

Overall it was a great experience, good well planned itinerary with a great leader our guide Ahmed Bozak made the trip very educational, took great care of us and always anticipating our needs. Accommodations were not great with low level hotels except for Selcuk. That can be improved. Activities including night train, day at boat among others were really nice. Great way to get to know Turkyei!

Turkey Family Holiday

I’ve taken the Turkey family trip with my family, including our 2 teenage daughters and we thought the itinerary, activities and the balance between culture, history and enjoyable activities were quite well selected and balanced. You get to see a good sample of Turkey most interesting sites in various regions. We were also privileged to have an excellent guide, the best I have ever had, which was a game changer for this experience. That said, the selection of accommodation in hotels was overall quite disappointing - with one or two exceptions we stayed in pretty bad hotels that would not in my opinion justify giving this trip the classification within the “Comfort” level. Also, replacing a 4 star hotel mentioned in the program with a 2 star very bad hotel is not acceptable (this is not what “or similar” means). For the amount we have paid we should absolutely have had a better experience. Additionally the communication with Intrepid before the travel on administrative elements was very poor and I was surprised to have had so many examples of miscommunication.
