Intrepid Travel recognised in AFR Fast 100 as Australia’s second fastest-growing company
November 2024
Intrepid Travel, a global leader in responsible adventure tourism, has been recognised as Australia’s second-fastest-growing business in 2024 by The Australian Financial Review's Fast 100 list, which highlights businesses achieving exceptional revenue growth and impact.
With an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 394.51% from 2022 to 2024, organic growth has been a key driver, fuelled by the travel boom and expanding offerings to include premium travel experiences, food tours in Vietnam, India, and Morocco, and family-focused trips.
The B Corp-certified company, which recently achieved paying a living wage across all its global offices, operates over 900 trips across 100+ countries, blending immersive, small-group adventures.
Founded in 1989 by Darrell Wade and Geoff Manchester, Intrepid has grown from its humble beginnings in Africa into a global powerhouse, with sales projected to reach $630 million this year.
CEO James Thornton said: “We joke that it’s almost like we’ve become a 35-year-old overnight success story. This milestone proves that purpose and profit can thrive together, and we’re eager to grow into the world’s first $1 billion adventure travel company within five years.”
As Intrepid grows, so too does its impact, with its not-for-profit arm, The Intrepid Foundation, which donates to local organisations in the destinations Intrepid travellers visit. The adventure travel company aims to contribute 1% of revenue to purpose by 2030.
Intrepid Travel’s mission to create positive change through the joy of travel.
