Intrepid Cuba reviews

Cigar smoke thickens the air, 50s Fords chug down cobbled laneways and dapperly dressed looking old fellas – many who’ve actually lived through a revolution – wile away the hours chatting on park benches. It usually takes a few days of strolling through Cuba before you lose the expectation that somebody’s suddenly going to call out: ‘Cut. Let’s take two’, but this here is real life you’re witnessing. (At least for the moment), the world’s most faithful adherent to Marx’s vision is totally unlike anywhere you’ve ever been before – and, unless someone one day succeeds in making a time machine – ever likely to get to. Rhythm along to the rhumba, bask on tropical beaches and soak up the sounds and sights of one true geopolitical outlier.

Beautiful Cuba

Elaine · Traveled July 2024
An excellent holiday for those interested in learning more about the history & culture of Cuba with a few glorious beach days thrown in. The people are friendly & chatty & the atmosphere & beat of Havana has to be seen & felt in person.. it’s fantastic. That said, this is not a trip for those who are afraid to rough it as there are very few luxuries in Cuba. Expect poor food & bring lots of medicines as the pharmacy’s are empty. The people are very poor & have very little material things & in some instances, not enough food so expect to find beggars everywhere. This is a country which proves that communism never works. Keep your expectations low & you’ll fall in love with it, as so many have done over the years.

Hola Cuba

Hola Cuba was a transformative experience. The beauty, scenery, food, art, culture and hospitality of the Cuban people was life changing. It's super hot, but worth every bead of sweat. Highly recommended!!!

Hola Cuba

Hola Cuba was an amazing trip! We had a wonderful time learning about their different religions, taking salsa lessons, and cruising in the classic cars. Each day was jam packed with adventure. It will be one that we look back on fondly. The families we stayed with at the casa particulars were so welcoming and our guide was fantastic! Highly recommend this trip! Thank you to our guide, Ale, for an amazing trip!

Hola Cuba

Hola Cuba was an amazing and educational experience. Alejandro was the best guide and Doni the driver was phenomenal and kept us safe on the bus. Thankfully the bus had A/C and USB charging ports at each seat, as the bus rides were long at times. Traveling in June/July we needed deet repellant (my natural stuff didn't work so well) and my Life Straw water bottle was helpful. I was glad I brought extra medications and soap for the Cuban people. The guesthouses were comfortable, but be prepared for rolling blackouts and no a/c at times. A rechargeable hand held fan was used frequently as well as a cooling towel, but I was there during the hot/humid season. Bring lots of 1's and 5's for tipping. Almost all the meals are included, but I brought home lots of Cuban artwork and a few trinkets from the markets. It's an amazing trip!
