November 2024
The Intrepid Foundation, Intrepid Travel’s non-profit arm, has appointed experienced NFP leader and philanthropy specialist Eve Omala as new Board Director.
Eve brings over 12 years of experience in the nonprofit & philanthropic sectors, having worked as a program implementer at the grassroots level as well as leading private foundation operations. Currently, she serves as the manager for the Africa Local Leaders Portfolio at Partners for Equity, where she leads philanthropic investing across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Speaking to her appointment, Omala said: “I’m thrilled to contribute meaningfully to a foundation that empowers travellers to become agents of lasting change in the communities they visit, building a global movement for positive impact.”
Throughout her career, Eve has been instrumental in supporting funders to localise their grant-making efforts. Notably, she made significant contributions at the Segal Family Foundation, directing over $15m annually in early-stage funding and providing thought partnership to over 150 locally led organisations.
“Eve is a passionate advocate connecting people and communities through her work, and her appointment comes at an exciting moment for the Intrepid Foundation,” General Manager, Intrepid Foundation, Biheng Zhang added.
“Her experience is directly transferrable to our think global, act local approach and she will add significant value in advancing our mission to create positive impact through the joy of travel, community and connection.”
Eve also serves on the boards of the Segal Family Foundation, Blood:Water Mission, Fundi Bots, and the Africa Visionary Fund as well as the advisory board of the Australian International Development Network and Gould Family Foundation.
