People and communities

We believe travel has the power to connect people from all walks of life

From the communities we visit to the people who make our trips go round to our travellers who are getting out there and seeing the world, travel connects us.

We invest in local people and experiences that give our travellers a deeper insight into real life in the destinations we visit. This creates economic opportunities in the places we go and helps to share their stories with people from all over the world.

Community-based tourism

Creating and sharing the joy of travel goes beyond seeing sights and surface-level experiences. Community-based tourism (CBT) gives you the chance to engage with and contribute economically to the communities you visit.

We have a number of trips with immersive CBT experiences. These adventures give you an authentic taste of local life and cultural heritage while ensuring the benefits of tourism stay with the people who actually live there.

Diversity and inclusion

We recognise that there are underrepresented people in travel, and we’re committed to changing that: from who benefits economically, to who tells the stories, right down to who gets to travel.

We're here to change the way we all see the world. We strive to help more travellers explore different places and meet new people. We share stories from new and diverse perspectives. And we support team members from all walks of life.

Reconciliation

We’re committed to working with Indigenous communities, businesses and partners around the world. The First Nations experiences on our trips help travellers learn from, and connect with, Indigenous cultures.

As an Australian-owned business, we worked with First Nations consultants and advisors in 2019 to create a Reconciliation Action Plan, which identifies how we can make a genuine contribution to Reconciliation in Australia.

Our impact on the ground

We travel with respect for the places we go – from the natural environments we explore to the wildlife that calls those places home.
