Italy solo tours

La Dolce Vita is even sweeter with new friends.

Is there anything worse than returning home from a trip to Italy and you don't have a single photo of yourself at the biggest sites? Fear not! By joining a small group trip in Italy, you'll meet like-minded travellers who will not only become friends but built-in photographers, too. Get ready for your new pals to snap album-worthy photos of you posing in front of the Trevi Fountain, getting serenaded on a gondola in Venice, or relaxing beachside with your spritz in Amalfi.  Say formaggio!

Why choose us

A local leader

When you're travelling alone, it can be way too easy to get pulled into tourist traps and miss authentic experiences. Joining a group tour as a solo traveller will help you check all the major sites off of your bucket list while having the knowledge and finesse of a local. Each Intrepid guide in Italy is an expert in helping you discover the perfect pizza place, avoid long lines at museums and make the most of your free time.

Ready made friendshps

Go solo, but not alone. That's our motto. The average Intrepid trip in Italy has about ten people on it – people of all ages and backgrounds from all over the world. While you'll have plenty of free time to explore independently, there's nothing quite like sharing a few bottles of vino at dinner with your new friends. Plus, long travel days become much more interesting when you can swap stories with your seatmate on the train.

Logistics and convenience

Gone are the days of confusing and complicated travel. As a solo traveller in Italy, navigating Europe's network of trains can be pretty daunting. But when you join an Intrepid trip, we'll organise all of your transportation, whether that means a train, van or water taxi, so you just have to sit back, enjoy the view, and daydream about what your next location holds.

Safety

When you join a group tour as a solo traveller you'll always have the benefit of safety in numbers. While Italy is a relatively safe place, it's also a hugely popular tourist destination and with that comes the common scams and petty theft. Your local guide will help you avoid unsafe areas of town while your new friends will be there to watch your back (and your stuff) while you're wandering around the Colosseum or Roman Forum.

Rome to Amalfi

Melanie · Traveled August 2024
Or tour guide Serena P is an amazing human being who took excellent care of us and kept us laughing! Request her if you can. The optional boat tour of Capri and the lemon grove tour and lunch outside Sorrento were absolute highlights. I appreciated having the transports sorted, and having a knowledgeable guide along the way was super convenient, made me feel safe and made planning easy. Even though I did not like the Rome and Sorrento hotel (mildewy showers in Hotel Madison and Hotel del Courso), I would still recommend this trip for anyone!

Such a good way to hike the best destinations in the Dolomites hassle free. Especially if you get Graziano Occhipinti as tour leader. He is a legend

Highlights of Italy

Haydn · Traveled August 2024
What a great tour. Did not feel like 7 days, it felt longer due to how much we got to fit in! Would highly recommend for anyone wanting the highlights of this lovely country.

Sail Italy: Procida to Amalfi

Liz · Traveled August 2024
What an introduction to sailing! Naples to Amalfi was a perfect length trip, with plenty of brilliant stops and activities. The level of detail and organisation with Intrepid is second-to-none. Paolo was a fantastic trip leader. Highly recommend this company and the particular trip, we couldn't have asked for a better experience (though we would rethink timing - August was VERY hot for sleeping on a boat).
