Classic Intrepid adventures, but on two wheels. That’s an Asia cycling trip.
We have a soft spot for Asia. Ever since Intrepid's inaugural trip to Thailand in 1989, we've loved exploring the continent’s fragrant food markets, mountain monasteries and palm-fringed islands – especially by bike. Imagine riding through silent bamboo forests in Japan, misty tea plantations in Sri Lanka or past crumbling hill forts on the road to Pushkar. The beauty of these trips is that you can cycle the pulsating streets of Phnom Penh or Hanoi and explore the roads less traveled. Plus, our lycra-clad leaders are locals, so you'll get an expert cyclist and the inside scoop on the best pad Thai in Bangkok or Kyoto’s coolest karaoke bars.

Why choose us
Our cycling trips include bike hire. Our bikes come in a full range of sizes and are chosen to suit the terrain you'll be covering. They're serviced regularly, and any broken chains or flat tires will be fixed by your leader. Most trips also offer e-bike hire (at an additional cost).
Our maximum group size is 16 people, though they usually average 10. The beauty of small group travel is that you can visit out-of-the-way places and get to know the locals while enjoying a good social mix and plenty of camaraderie along the way.
Our locally-based leaders are all cycling junkies and undergo rigorous training to run these trips. That said, they’re still regular Intrepid leaders – meaning they know all the best local bars, restaurants and hidden spots away from the tourists.
We run safety assessments on all our trips and our leaders are specially trained to run cycling adventures and provide basic first aid. Most of our cycling trips also have a support vehicle in case of injury, hazardous weather or road conditions – or if you’d like to give your legs a rest.
Intrepid travelers seek to leave a positive impact and give back to the places they visit. By joining a cycling trip, you’ll support our Intrepid Foundation cycling partner, World Bicycle Relief. Donations provide children, health workers and farmers in low-income communities with durable bicycles, research and mechanics training.
Riding a bike is good for you (even factoring in the odd Tuscan cellar door pitstop). But it’s also better for the environment. All Intrepid trips are 100% carbon offset, but a large chunk of our cycling trips are powered by the greenest energy of all: yours!
