Move makes North American DMC the largest for Intrepid customers worldwide

Intrepid Travel, the world’s largest adventure travel company, has officially brought Urban Adventures, its popular city tour brand in the U.S., under its own North American DMC. This transition completes a successful 15-year partnership with WeVenture, who helped create and operate the US based trips.

Intrepid Travel serves more customers in the U.S. than in any other destination within its DMC network, with 75% of Urban Adventures (UA) travelers coming from the U.S.

In 2025, Intrepid is set to host over 40,000 UA travelers across the country, supported by six dedicated city managers and more than 80 exceptional tour leaders. When combined with overseas visitors and the immersive hiking adventures operated by Wildland Trekking, Intrepid will welcome over 55,000 U.S.-based travelers this year alone—cementing its position as a leader in responsible, community-driven travel across the United States.

"Urban Adventures is a cornerstone of Intrepid’s mission to connect travelers with the heart of local communities," said Matt Berna, Senior Vice President for North America. "This isn’t just about running tours—it’s about reshaping how Americans experience their own backyard. We’re creating deeper connections, amplifying local stories, and giving back to the communities that make these cities so special."

Immersive experiences across the U.S.

UA tours span Boston, Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington DC. Led by guides deeply connected to their cities, customer feedback consistently highlights the heart and dedication they pour into every tour.

Highlights include:

  • Sipping your way through Seattle’s coffee culture from those who put the city on the map

Their most popular trip, exploring Washington Mall & Monuments by electric car, offers a seamless way to experience the vast scale and iconic landmarks of D.C. With so much to see across such a sprawling area, this tour provides comfort and convenience without missing a single highlight.

“Our trips aren’t just local stories—they’re a bite size taste of our travel style: immersive, sustainable, and unforgettable," added Berna.

Strengthening leadership in the Americas

To support this expansion, Amanda Neiman, previously the North American DMC Operations Manager, has been promoted to Operations Director and will oversee UA’s operational delivery. Reporting directly to Berna, Neiman will work closely with Jason Fried, one of WeVenture’s original founders, who will continue to lead the UA team for Intrepid, expanding the UA team and portfolio.

"Urban Adventures represents everything Intrepid stands for: connection, curiosity, and community," said Amanda Neiman, Operations Director. "With this expansion, we’re making local experiences even more meaningful and accessible for travelers across the U.S."
