Weather in Las Vegas

Located in the Nevada desert, Las Vegas has a subtropical hot desert climate. This means summers are (really) hot, with temperatures often reaching 105°F in June, July and August. Our tip? Make sure you have sunscreen and a hat on standby if you plan on traveling to Las Vegas during these months.

Does Las Vegas ever get cold?

Winter in Las Vegas is cool with temperatures generally hovering around 61°F. This offers a nice respite from the harsh heat of summer.

One of the best things about the weather in Las Vegas is that it rarely rains, with around 26 days of rain per year on average.

The coldest month is December, with temperatures only rising to roughly 55°F during the day and a chilly 36°F at night – though it can drop lower and the surrounding mountain ranges can even be sprinkled with snow.

When is the best time to visit Las Vegas?

While Las Vegas is a year-round destination, autumn and spring are generally the best seasons to visit as the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Summer can be swelteringly hot, but there are plenty of air-conditioned malls and restaurants where you can escape the heat.
