Steeped in history but young at heart, Cambodia makes for an unbeatable family holiday destination. Impressive museums sit alongside buzzing street markets in the capital Phnom Penh while Battambang blends distinguished old-world airs with amiable small-town charm. Siem Reap boasts timeworn temples including the World Heritage-listed Ankor Wat and a plethora of outdoor excursions for the actively inclined. On this trip the whole brood will become acquainted with everyday Khmer life and traditions on guided city tours and a hands on cooking class, not to mention visits to rural villages on a cycling adventure through the surrounding countryside. With a careful balancing of included activities and free time, this is a trip perfectly crafted to the whole family.

Why you'll love this trip
  • Take in the sights of Phnom Penh on a fun cyclo tour visiting some of the city's most historic buildings.
  • Share a meal with a local family in Battambang before keeping up with the kids on a cycling adventure through the rural countryside
  • Get a taste for Cambodian cuisine in a fun hands on cooking class in Siem Reap
  • Explore the ancient temples of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed archaeological complex and the world's largest religious site.
  • Enjoy some family fun and incredible acrobatics at Phare the Cambodian Circus
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, CRST. Donations help them break the cycle of poverty in Cambodia by inspiring and empowering children with education opportunities.

Is this trip right for you?
  • You will visit several temples on this trip, and this requires a level of modesty. Be sure to bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
  • In 2025, Khmer New Year (Songkran Festival) will be on the 13th to 15th April. This is a fascinating and rewarding time to see the country, however, you do need to be prepared for some businesses to be closed, tourist sites to be very busy and for transport to be packed as many Cambodians are travelling around the country. Please consider your travel arrangements carefully before booking travel for this period.

What a fun and memorable way to see Cambodia with my teenage son - thank you Saopheak “Peak” for guiding us through this wonderful part of SE Asia in a way that made us feel taken care of but gave us the experience that is so different from home. I recommend this trip for families with teenagers young and old as well as for single parents wanting to get away with one child for some special one on one time.

Great experience for parents of (reluctant) teens because the other parents and kids encourage them to go along with the group. Also, we all took photos of each others families and shared them, so it was like traveling with a photographer. :) The itinerary wasn’t too fast or too slow, and we enjoyed all the included activities. The bike ride was hot and tiring, but Intrepid had a tuk tuk following us for those who wanted to stop early or rest. Overall, a 5 star experience which is hard to do with teenagers!
