What is ATM access like in Sri Lanka?

There are ATMs located in most Sri Lankan towns and there should be no problem finding one in any of the cities.

There are eight banknotes in circulation in Sri Lanka: the 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000. Be sure to have lower denominations if you plan on visiting more rural areas, shopping at markets or eating at small local restaurants.

It’s worth remembering that it’s illegal to take more than 5000 rupees in or out of the country, so be wary of withdrawing large amounts of money towards the end of your Sri Lanka tour.
