Visa and entry requirements for Europe

Whether you need a visa to travel to Europe largely depends on which country you are from and which European country you are travelling to. Many nationalities do not need a visa to travel to European countries within the Schengen Agreement, but citizens from select countries will need to obtain a Schengen visa to travel to Europe, which will typically cost a fee.

To enter Europe, you may need:  

  • A passport with six months validity  
  • Flight itinerary  
  • Proof of accommodation and sufficient funds 
  • Proof of onward or exit travel
