Short breaks

Got a few extra days to play with? Our short breaks might be just the perfect way to use them.

Short breaks are just that – short breaks, a few days of travel, organised by us and experienced by you. Perfect if you’ve got a special site in mind, have unplanned days to fill or simply don’t want your adventure to end yet.

We’ve kept the essence of an Intrepid trip but adjusted the day-to-day to reflect a more independent style of travel. You’ll still have transport and accommodation sorted, but unlike our longer adventures, these trips aren’t run by an Intrepid leader. Instead, expert guides from our local partners will lead you through any included activities like city tours or excursions. Then, in your downtime you’re free to do your own independent exploration.

So, the choice is yours. Why not spend a long weekend eye-to-eye with the Easter Island heads, trekking Patagonia with an experienced guide or trying to spot the Big Five with a wildlife expert on a Kruger National Park safari? Short breaks may be pint-sized but rest assured, they’re no less epic.

Karim was a wonderful tour guide, we had a great driver, the food was incredible and it was great to support female-run organisations. The camel ride in the Sahara was definitely a highlight.

Decent tour . Good aspects were being immersed in nature , and food was delicious . Wish we had more information on the lodge ahead of time. Expectations certainly need to be managed in terms of wildlife spotting

Chiang Mai & Elephant Experience

Alice · Traveled August 2024
Wow, what an incredible end to our trip. We had travelled around Vietnam and Cambodia with intrepid and had an incredible time but really wanted to see some elephants before we left so added this on to our booking. It was a quick flying visit to Chiang Mai which we had to leave early for due to flight prices. Our guide helped to organise the cooking class to change the time so we could still attend and we are SO thankful she did as it was the perfect way to experience food and a really fun activity. The elephant sanctuary- ChangChill was amazing, our guide was really knowledgeable and got us to great places to see the elephants in wild habitats to keep us and the elephants safe and happy. it felt great to know we were being such responsible travellers and doing what we could to look after the animals but also still see how they would be in the wild. The cooking class with Cooking@Home was AMAZING, the couple running were so knowledgeable and great at explaining and showing how to cook their beautiful homemade dishes in a really authentic way before letting us have a go ourselves. There was so much food we couldn’t finish and were given takeaway containers to take it home too! It was just perfection and I wouldn’t have changed a thing!

Fatima is an amazing tour guide, she did such an amazing job in sharing her knowledge, catering to the group and making multiple stops during the drive in order to stretch our legs. She’s such a genuine beautiful person! We loved the three day trip, it was such an amazing experience.
