You sure do. Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips if you’re traveling internationally. Your leader will take down your insurance details on the first day in case they are needed during the trip, so make sure to bring your policy documents.

Both visa and vaccination requirements differ depending on the destination. Visa and entry requirements are subject to change and the responsibility of the individual traveller, so it’s always worth checking well in advance.

Most hotels, cafes and bars have wi-fi, especially in big cities and towns. In more remote places, or on treks or homestays, wi-fi or mobile data may not be as easily accessible. Your leader will give you a heads-up beforehand so you can call home or send a quick WhatsApp. They can also help you buy a local SIM card if you like to stay connected.

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, we will no longer require travelers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).

However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travelers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

Most of the time, you’ll be staying in simple, well-located accommodation. In some destinations, you'll stay in multishare dormitories with cool hangouts, in others, you'll stay in a twin-share room in a local hotel with ensuite facilities. We use authentic accommodation wherever possible, so you might find yourself staying in a traditional hanok in South Korea or a local guesthouse in India. 

When rooming in a twin-share, we pair up solo travelers with another traveller of the same gender as per the gender marker on each passport. If your gender identity differs from what is indicated on your passport, please get in touch with us so that we can discuss rooming options with you. If you'd like your own space, some of our trips also have the option to pay a fee for your own room.
