Intrepid Travel Kilimanjaro Reviews

Towering over the plains of Tanzania, Mt Kilimanjaro reaches up to 5896m and is an epic destination for travelers looking for the challenge of a lifetime. It’s a big draw card for trekkers travelling in East Africa, since the climb itself doesn’t require any technical equipment. However, the altitude can cause complications, and many who attempt the summit are forced to turn around before reaching the ultimate lookout point across Africa. A Kilimanjaro holiday will most likely prove the adventure of a lifetime, but be ready for an extraordinary physical challenge.

Kilimanjaro: Machame Route

This is our third tour with Intrepid and although the toughest was also the most memorable and rewarding . Part challenge , part pilgrimage, part family holiday, this trek was arduous, immersive and exciting . I was overcome with emotion as i summited Kiliminjaro with my family as the sun majestically rose over a barren but starkly beautiful landscape. My heart swelled and tears started running down my face, dripping onto my puffer jacket where they promptly froze. It is hard to describe the level of care and support we all received from our amazing team led by J-man( who is simultaneously uber cool whilst taking care of your every need) The other leaders AJ , Walter and Celine Dion all shone with their own flavour. Meckson our chef was a wizard conjuring amazing meals of huge proportions seemingly from thin air. Finally the porters all went above and beyond . It has never been so pleasurable to be woken at 5:30am as it is by the smiling Florien an Elbaraki. After each trek we were greeted with the grinning Joesph and Julian to clean and fix our boots . When we felt tired our packs were gently lifted from our shoulders without asking and when our spirits were down they were immediately lifted by words and songs of encouragement. What a trek , what a team and what a leader in J- man.

I highly recommend trekking to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro with Joshua (Jman). He is an incredible guide: will prioritize health and safety and ensuring you make it down in one piece. If you are going to take on this incredible challenge, do it with guide with a great reputation.
