Kosovo Tours & Vacations

Tiny Kosovo is Europe’s newest (official) country: a handful of landlocked mountains, poppy-dotted meadows and oak forests smack bang in the middle of the Balkans.

The shadow of conflict in the late 90s has kept Kosovo off the holiday radar, which is a real shame. But go there today and you can feel that shadow lifting. NATO troops may still guard Serbian monasteries, and proper independence is an ongoing struggle, but the headlines now are increasingly good ones: an emerging tourist trade, film festivals in Peja, Pristina’s trendy cafe scene and world-class walking in the Rugova Mountains. Yep, Europe’s youngest member is definitely making up for lost time.

As an inexperienced traveller, I can thoroughly recommend Intrepid Travel. Our tour was amazing, challenging and so much fun. I felt safe and well looked after the entire trip.

We loved this trip. There was absolutely stunning scenery, great walks and a bit of city life thrown in. However the hikes and the countryside, lunching in family homesteads high in the mountains made this trip special. We cannot appreciate our guide enough for all the hard work and organisation and pleasant disposition enough.

Worth to visit this region of the balkan. Felt always secure. Tourism starts growing. Wonderful countryside. Lovely food - A must do for meat lovers. Good varity of activities included - Still enough time to explore on yourself. Just do it now.

Intrepid's destination selection was spot on. Guide, Arted, was brilliant - noting that I was elderly and always taking this into account. He interacted superbly with the whole group and was always cheerful. He made good suggestions at every point and was invariably polite and enthusiastic. Hugh

A wonderful part of the world that I will be returning to, thanks to this trip. Complex history, lots of variety in experiences and diversity in landscapes. My favourite parts were the Valbona Valley, Kosovo in general and Lake Ohrid. I had an awesome trip leader and group members that made this trip one of my favourite experiences. Highly recommended.
