Camping tours & trips

You're never too old to play outside

Ditch the packed footpaths for dusty roads and head out on your next big adventure: a camping trip in the great outdoors. See the beauty of nature firsthand – and not through a bus window – as you trek to the famous Machu Picchu, sleep under the stars in the Aussie Outback, wake up to the animal sounds of the African wilderness, or explore the captivating landscapes of the Canadian Rockies. Whether you’re excited to help set up camp or want to enjoy the creature comforts of premium accommodation in remote locations, our camping trips are for everyone from the first-timers to the tent enthusiasts (and everyone in between).

Our camping trips

Why choose us

Access to remote areas

We take the idea of getting you off-the-beaten track seriously. Forget seeing a destination; we want you to experience it. Our camping trips will take you where busloads of tourists can’t, with feature stays in remote locations you won’t find in any travel brochures.

Memorable experiences

It’s not every day you can fall asleep to the wild sounds of the Serengeti, swap stories around a campfire in the US or count the stars over the Australian Outback. On our camping trips, the fun doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down – and that’s a promise.

More conscious camping

Responsible travel is at the forefront of every trip we run. We encourage every traveller to think about the environment and how we can make a positive impact, especially on our camping trips. We leave behind zero waste and camp in established areas where we can.

Highlights

Hear the call of the wild in the Serengeti

One of the main drawcards of Africa is the chance to experience your very own ‘circle of life’ moment, and luckily for you, our 10-day East Africa Highlights trip allows you to do exactly that. With two nights camping in Serengeti National Park and no barrier between you and the bush, you’ll get as close to the animal action as possible while still remaining safe with your experienced three-person crew. All you have to focus on is the sound of the wilderness around you and the millions of stars above you.

Visit the Maasai in the remote Loita Hills

While Loita Hills is an extremely remote destination in Kenya (taking approximately 5-6 hours from Lake Naivasha), visiting the home of the proud Maasai people and learning about their daily life and ancient ways makes up for the long drive. Arrive on Maasai land in the early afternoon and set up your tent for the night before meeting a local elder to chat all things culture and customs. There’ll be no WIFI or shower facilities, but we reckon this is one experience that’s worth the small sacrifice.

Discover the delights of Monument Valley

Few places in the United States will leave you in dumbstruck awe quite like Monument Valley. Named for its giant sandstone formations naturally created over the centuries, this part of the state’s southeast is well worth exploring from iconic movie scene sites (anyone seen Forrest Gump?) and roadside stalls full of authentic snacks. After a full day of fun, debrief and unwind at your accommodation for the night - a traditional Navajo hut made from logs and dirt.

Fall asleep to the sounds of the Aussie Outback

If you’re after a true Aussie experience, our Uluru & Kings Canyon adventure is the trip for you. Not only will you see some of Australia’s most beautiful natural wonders, but you’ll also get to camp right in the middle of the desert in a campsite with permanent tents solely set up for our use. Sit around the fire at night, swapping stories of the day’s fun and wake up as the sun starts to light up the rich, red colour of the earth all around you. That’ll be one sunrise you definitely don’t want to miss.

Escape the modern world in the Sahara Desert

Forget vehicular transportation; ride a camel instead towards your incredible solar-powered accommodation for the night in Morocco’s Saraha Desert. Hidden away among the sand dunes, this magical camp promises an escape from the modern world without straying too far from the premium amenities you’re accustomed to – think permanent tents with large beds, private ensuite bathrooms and authentic Moroccan décor. The best part? A traditional feast under the stars and live Gnaoua music to send you off to sleep.

Gain access to amazing wildlife in Tanzania

What’s better than a one-night stay in permanent tented camps in Tarangire National Park? A two-night stay. That’s right. On our Premium Tanzania trip, relax in your room for the next couple of days and watch wildlife you’ve only ever seen in books casually walk past your tent’s veranda (think zebras, wildebeest and elephants – oh my!). As if that’s not enough, this eco-friendly camp features modern comforts such as ensuite bathrooms and a dining area perfect for eating with your fellow travellers.

A row of permanent tents in the Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan
Sleep under the stars in Jordan’s Wadi Rum

There are some spectacular landscapes in this world. And then there’s the Wadi Rum Desert in Jordan. With an early wake-up call for a stunning sunrise you won’t easily forget and a thrill-seeking 4WD adventure over the dunes in your near future, the Wadi Rum Desert is a sight to behold – one you don’t have to leave when the sun starts to set. Make yourself at home at your Bedouin-style camp and get to know your hosts over plenty of glasses of mint tea, or as the locals call it ‘Bedouin whisky’.

My first Intrepid tour. The guide, Federico, made it a memorable and excellent experience. The schedule was packed but I did not feel it was rushed at any point. 5 stars

A wonderful and very memorable trip for my 86 year young Mum and myself. Loved Country we were priveledged to share and the friendships we made with a variety of generations. Camping was great and not putting up or pulling down tents a bonus! Excellent value! Highly recommend for those who love adventure with great organisation.

Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Adventure

Porter · Traveled July 2024
We took our daughter and 16 year old granddaughter on this trip. There was something for all age groups to make it fun, educational and a little challenging. We saw so many sights that we would had not been able to do on our own. Parking is difficult in Yellowstone and we had door to door service so to speak. Indy was patient and allowed us all the time we needed to see and do what we wanted.
